Apple of Discord's Eye (Chapter 9)In less than an instant, Twilight and Discord arrived at their destination in Canterlot, only to discover that they had a short wait at the castle before Celestia had time to see them. The young alicorn spent the tiresome wait outside of the throne room watching Discord gradually lose his sanity. He had been pacing the floor for nearly half an hour straight now. A large storm cloud hovered over his head and followed him as he paced, raining cats, dogs, buckets (actual buckets), and pretty much anything else except rain. At least he had an umbrella.Apple of Discord's Eye (Chapter 9) by ponderinginsanity
Twilight sighed. “Do you think maybe I could go home now?” she asked. “I don’t actually need to be here, the Princess only asked for me to escort you—”
The ‘rain’ stopped suddenly, and so did Discord. He huffed, folding his arms and turning away from her dramatically. “Fine, go! Leave me, leave me all alone!”
“…Alright. Bye.” Twilight turned on her hooves to

“Feeding time!” cried the yellow mare, as she finished placing various dishes full of nuts, greens, seeds and fresh fruit on the floor around her. Not a moment after the announcement was given, the house was crammed from floor to ceiling with birds and critters that were practically pouring through the windows, each fighting for a first taste at the food spread out for them. Not a single feeder was left uncrowded by birds, and soon Fluttershy was surrounded by critters trying to get at the bowls she had so neatly placed.
“Now now, one at a time, please.” she murmured in a voice that could soothe even the crankiest of dragons to sleep. As she watched over the feeding animals, a small commotion caught her attention, and soon she was gently prying two quarreling chipmunks apart. “No fighting, you two!
Apple of Discord's Eye (Chapter 6)The six mares made haste to Canterlot, but didn’t want to waste time taking a train all the way there. Twilight had been working hard on strengthening her teleportation spell, and decided it was worth a try, though using it on all six of them would surely be a challenge. It took a few tries, but eventually the alicorn was able to zap them all to Canterlot, effectively sparing the time it would have taken to travel by train. Unfortunately, nopony else was as used to the magic as Twilight, and teleporting such a long distance left them woozy and disoriented.Apple of Discord's Eye (Chapter 6) by ponderinginsanity
Rainbow swayed dizzily, shaking her head in an attempt to right herself. “Ya think you could do that without the headaches, next time?”
“Sorry,” said Twilight with a frown as she waited for their dizziness to subside. “I guess it’s just something that takes a lot of practice…”
“I’d like to skip the practice and take the train back home later, if it’s all t
Apple of Discord's Eye (Chapter 5)Even after the unexpected disaster, the Gala was a spectacular hit. The dancing and celebrating continued full force, despite a fair share of worry over Princess Celestia, since she never did return to the party. Twilight and Cadence did their best to clear the tension, however, and everypony seemed to forget about the incident once the night sky shone with bright, burning fireworks (lit by Spike, of course).Apple of Discord's Eye (Chapter 5) by ponderinginsanity
However, if there was one pony who couldn’t seem to enjoy herself for the remainder of the night, it was Princess Luna. She wanted nothing more but to leave the Gala and find her sister, but she knew that if another princess left unexpectedly, the celebration would surely be in ruins. She kept to herself, faking a smile every now and then as ponies passed by, but the only thing on her mind was how eager she was to leave. The minute the Gala was over, Luna dashed out—heading straight back to the castle in Canterlot, where she knew her sister would have fled to.
Apple of Discord's Eye (Chapter 4)The night of the grand Gala had finally arrived, and everypony was beyond excited for what would surely be an incredible celebration. Twilight and her friends boarded the train that would take them to the Crystal Empire, and their anticipation was eminent.Apple of Discord's Eye (Chapter 4) by ponderinginsanity
“I can’t wait I can’t wait I can’t wait I CAN’T WAIT!” chanted Pinkie as she bounded around the moving train, her party-themed dress bouncing with her.
“Thanks again for the new dresses, Rarity.” Twilight complimented, admiring how beautiful her friends looked tonight. She was especially impressed by her own dress, which was extra fancy, even for Rarity’s taste.
“Why of course, Twilight.” the unicorn replied with a humble smile. “I just had to make you a dress fit for a princess this time, since, well, you are one! And if I had to make a dress for you, then I simply couldn’t leave out anypony else.” Her own dress was shiny and magnificent, as always,
